RDC with Mac OSX

In this article we run through connecting to a Windows VPS with the Remote Desktop Connection Client on an Intel-based Mac.

Make sure you're logged into mPanel, and navigate to the Remote Desktop page for your VPS. You'll find Remote Desktop under the Access menu.

Follow the instructions on the Remote Desktop page and download the RDP file for Mac OSX to your desktop.

Now you'll need to download the Remote Desktop Connection Client from the Microsoft website. You'll find it here.

Once the download is complete, run through the Remote Desktop Connection Client installer file.

Open the RDP file for your VPS you saved to your desktop and you should see the following window.

RDPConnect

You may get a warning dialogue about sharing your Mac hard disks with a Windows-based computer. You can check the option so you aren't presented with this warning when connecting to your VPS anymore.

MacRDCDiskWarn

Click Connect. If you are connecting to a Windows Server 2003 VPS you might see a warning about verifying the identity of the VPS. You can safely ignore this and click Connect again.

MacRDCIdentWarning

You should now see the Remote Desktop Client window with a login prompt for your Windows VPS. Enter the login details for your VPS which were emailed to you when it first came online after creating the new subscription.

MacRDCWinVPSLogin

You should now have successfully logged into your Windows VPS on your Mac, and see your VPS' desktop.

Click the close window button when you're ready to disconnect. You may see another dialogue box mentioning the programs on your VPS will continue to run. This means you can disconnect from your VPS and, for example, your MT4 terminals will keep running.
