RDC with Smartphones and Tablets

 

In this article we run through connecting to your Windows VPS using the 2X Client RDP/Remote Desktop application.

The 2X RDP client is free for both Android and Apple devices. It is also very easy to set up and use.

Android users: Start by downloading and installing the app from the Google Play store onto your Android device. You'll find it right here.

Apple users: Start by downloading and installing the app from the iTunes app store onto your Apple device. You'll find it right here.

Start the 2X RDP app and click the + sign at the top to add and configure your VPS connection.

Choose the Terminal Server Connection option.

Enter your VPS' details into the appropriate fields as with the following examples.

Alias: My Mammoth VPS

Hostname: 103.1.456.789

Port: 3389 (this defaults to the correct port so can be left as is)

Username: Administrator

Password: mystrongvpspassword

The configuration screen will be similar to the image below

Check the 'Connect to Console' box.

The rest of the settings can be left as they are, or changed to your own preference. Most people use Bitmap caching, Enable Compression and the Sound Redirection option 'Do not play'. These settings will save data usage on the mobile device and is likely to be more responsive.

Scroll back to the top of the configuration options and click the floppy disk icon to save your connection settings. Your connection settings will be saved on your device, and ready to use whenever you start the 2X RDP client.

You should now see your newly created VPS connection listed by the alias you chose.

Click your VPS in the list and the 2X RDP client will now connect you to your VPS' desktop.

Click the settings icon(down arrow) when you want to disconnect from your VPS and be sure to select Disconnect from the menu(not Log Off).
